WhatsApp Automation for WooCommerce Online Stores

Shoppers would rather send “still have this in size 40?” than fill in a contact form. We connect WhatsApp to your WooCommerce store, so product questions get answered from the catalogue, every order triggers its own confirmation, and “where is my parcel?” gets a real answer pulled from the order.

For online shops in Mauritius selling fashion, electronics, home goods, food or gifts, on the official WhatsApp Business Platform.

From $9 a month plus usage. See pricing →
  • Stock and sizes read from your store
  • Order and delivery updates sent by WooCommerce
  • Returns go straight to your team

Where online stores lose time on WhatsApp

Most shop owners already answer customers on WhatsApp by hand. It works until order volume grows, and then the same five questions take over the day.

“Do you have it in blue?”

Someone has to open the back office, check the variant, and type it out. For every product, every evening.

“Where is my order?”

Delivery questions pile up after every sale, and each one means looking up an order number by hand.

Unclear payment status

Bank transfer, mobile payment or cash on delivery: customers want to know you received it, and staff want to know who still owes.

Carts left behind

A customer adds items, gets distracted, and nobody follows up, even when they said they were happy to hear from you.

From product question to delivered parcel

Three situations an online store meets every day, and how each one runs once WhatsApp is connected to WooCommerce.

Product and stock question
  1. Is the white sneaker available in 42?

  2. Finds the product and its variants in your catalogue
  3. Reads current stock for that size
  4. Replies with availability and the price shown on your store
  5. Sends the product link so the customer can order
  6. Answered, link sent
Order placed on the website
  1. Customer completes checkout and ticks “updates on WhatsApp”

  2. WooCommerce sends an order confirmation template
  3. When payment is received, a payment update follows
  4. When the order ships, a delivery message with the time window goes out
  5. For pay-on-delivery orders, the customer confirms they will be available
  6. Customer informed at each step
Return or exchange request
  1. The dress is too small, can I swap it?

  2. Asks for the order number and the item
  3. Checks the order and the date it was delivered
  4. Explains your return policy in plain words
  5. Hands the conversation to staff with the order attached
  6. Passed to your team, order attached

Example flows. Yours follow your own catalogue, delivery zones and return policy.

Built around how people pay and receive orders locally

Many shoppers in Mauritius still choose to pay when the parcel arrives, and others pay by bank transfer or a mobile wallet and then send a screenshot. That makes the messages around payment and delivery as important as the order itself.

We connect WhatsApp to the payment and order statuses your store already tracks. When a payment is confirmed in WooCommerce, the customer is told. When a delivery is planned, they get the day and time window, and for cash-on-delivery orders they can confirm they will be home, which means fewer wasted trips for your driver.

  • Payment updates for MCB, MCB Juice, MyT Money, Stripe and PayPal, when your store uses them
  • Delivery messages with the planned day and time window
  • Availability confirmation for pay-on-delivery orders
  • A note to staff when a customer says they will not be home

Who handles what in a shop conversation

AI

Reads the catalogue for the customer

Shoppers describe products loosely: “the green one from your Instagram post”, “the bigger size”. The assistant works out what they mean.

  • Matches vague descriptions to products and variants
  • Answers on sizes, materials and delivery areas from your store
  • Replies in English, French or Kreol Morisien

Automation

Moves with each order

Order events in WooCommerce trigger the right message, every time, without anyone pressing send.

  • Order confirmation as soon as checkout completes
  • Payment received, shipped and delivered updates
  • Order status looked up when a customer asks

Human

Staff take what needs judgement

Money back, damaged goods and unhappy customers deserve a person. Those conversations reach your team with the order already attached.

  • Returns, exchanges and refunds
  • Damaged or wrong items
  • Bulk or wholesale enquiries
  • Any customer who asks to talk to someone

Store messages that go out on their own

Messages your store starts use templates approved by Meta. Order and delivery updates are utility messages; cart reminders and promotions are marketing messages, sent only to customers who agreed, and Meta charges for each one delivered.

Order confirmation

Items, total and delivery address, sent the moment the order is placed.

Payment received

A short note when the transfer or card payment is confirmed in your store.

Out for delivery

Day and time window, with a reply option if the customer will be out.

Cart reminder

Only for shoppers who opted in, a friendly nudge about the items they left.

After the purchase

A few days after delivery: care tips, a request for a review, or help if something is wrong.

Back in stock

For customers who asked to be told, a message when the size they wanted returns.

Connected to WooCommerce and the tools behind it

WooCommerce is where we work best: we build WooCommerce stores ourselves, so we know where orders, stock and statuses live. Delivery tools, accounting and POS systems can join the flow if they have an API.

  • WooCommerce
  • WordPress
  • MCB, MCB Juice and MyT Money
  • Stripe and PayPal
  • Erply POS
  • Sage, QuickBooks or Xero
  • Google Sheets
  • Instagram and Messenger in the same inbox

How we set it up for your store

  1. 01

    Look at your order flow

We go through your statuses, payment methods, delivery zones and the questions customers ask most.

  2. 02

    Add the WhatsApp opt-in

A checkbox at checkout records who agreed to order updates and, separately, who agreed to promotions.

  3. 03

    Connect WooCommerce

Order events send the right template, and the assistant can read products, stock and order status.

  4. 04

    Test with real orders

We run test orders through each payment method and delivery case before customers see anything.

WhatsApp for online stores: FAQ

Can WooCommerce send order notifications on WhatsApp?

Yes. We connect your store so that an order confirmation, payment update and delivery message are sent automatically when the order status changes. These use utility templates approved by Meta.

Can customers check their order status on WhatsApp?

Yes. The customer gives an order number, or writes from the number used at checkout, and the assistant looks the order up in WooCommerce and replies with its current status and delivery details.

Can it answer questions about stock, sizes and prices?

Yes. The assistant reads your catalogue, so it answers from the same products, variants, stock and prices your website shows. If an item is out of stock, it can say so and suggest alternatives you have chosen.

Can I send abandoned cart reminders on WhatsApp?

Only to shoppers who agreed to receive marketing messages from you, for example by ticking a box at checkout. Cart reminders use marketing templates, and Meta charges per delivered message, so we keep them short and occasional.

Does it work with cash on delivery?

Yes. For pay-on-delivery orders, the delivery message can ask the customer to confirm they will be available, and replies like “not home tomorrow” are passed to your team so the delivery can be moved.

Who handles returns and refunds?

Your team. The assistant collects the order number and what went wrong, explains your return policy, then hands the conversation to a person with the order attached. It never approves a refund on its own.

Do I need a WooCommerce store?

WooCommerce is the platform we build on and connect to most often. If your shop runs on a custom system with an API, it can usually be connected too; we check during a free discovery call and quote the work separately.

What does WhatsApp automation cost for an online store?

Artover Chat is a monthly plan plus a usage wallet that covers AI replies and WhatsApp messages as you use them. Current prices and a cost simulator are in the pricing section of this page. The WooCommerce connection is quoted separately after a free discovery call.
